Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)
The Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a procedure for testing the electrical systems, circuits and services carrying electricity around a property.
All electrical installations can deteriorate over time with and age and use. Periodic fixed wire testing also known as an EICR and is essential to ensure the continued safety of users and the safety and serviceability of fixed equipment.
-
The (EICR) will highlight if any of the existing circuits or equipment is overloaded or may be faulty
-
Find any potential shock or fire risks within the electrical installation
-
Identify potential defective diy work that may have been carried out in the past which isn't to standard
-
Identify a lack of Bonding or Earthing at the consumer unit, boiler, hot water cylinder etc
-
Testing is carried out on the wiring and the fixed electrical equipment to ensure it is safe to use.
-
A detailed schedule of circuits at the consumer unit is also provided to ensure each circuit is clearly marked.
At the end of each inspection a detailed report is provided advising the condition of the existing installation, it includes recommendations that may be required to ensure the installation is brought up to standard or that may help improve the current installation to ensure it is safe to be used..
EICR testing may be recommended every 1, 3, 5 or 10 years depending upon age, usage, condition of the premise and the condition of the existing installation.
